Hardening up: the next generation of concrete.
David Chuter speaks to Lindsay McDougall, host of Drive, ABC Illawarra, about the next generation of concrete.
Concrete is one of the most widely used construction materials on earth. Easily cast into any shape, load-bearing, and quick to set, concrete is used in construction from holding a post into the ground to building superstructures like roads, bridges, and dams. But one element commonly used in concrete – Ordinary Portland Cement – is far from perfect, causing environmental and health concerns. A new version of concrete has recently been developed and it could shake up the construction industry in a historic way.
